ALL Reasonable Offers Considered!!! 3/4 BR Cape with Garage $169,900

by Marc Ayotte What was supposed to be a Campbell wrestling tri-meet on

January 25 with Bow and St. Thomas Aquinas actually was more like a ‘let’s try and meet!‘ Due to extenuating circumstances such as inclement weather and finals week at Bow High School, the scheduled meet between the three teams turned into a last-minute shuffling of weight classes, exhibition matches, double matches, and one scenario of no matches.

Bow opted out of wrestling against the host Campbell squad and went up against only St. Thomas. Earlier in the season, Bow had wrestled against the Cougars, whereas they had not yet faced the Saints of St. Thomas. A forecast of considerable snow for the remainder of the evening prompted the Bow head coach to limit his time in Litchfield and allow for a safer trip back home. Adding to the expediency of the night’s activities, Bow only had six wrestlers compete as several of their team members exercised the option of not wrestling in lieu of staying home to study for finals. The first time meeting went to St. Thomas as they slipped by the Falcons of Bow, 37-36. One of the highlights in an otherwise quiet evening for the few spectators that braved the elements was the several matches involving last year’s (125) Division II state champion Jeff Cole, officially of St. Thomas. Technically, Cole attends Oyster River High School (ORHS) where he is the only wrestler, creating a petitioned scenario that allows him to practice, travel, and wrestle in meets with the St. Thomas team. The senior crossbreed of an ORHS Bobcat and a St. Thomas Saint brought his stellar 2011 season record of 29-0 to the mat against Conor Douglas (135) in Campbell’s first official match of the evening. An exciting and challenging opportunity for the Cougar freshman gave way to experience, as Cole was victorious by pinning Douglas one minute and 22 seconds into the second period. Things quickly turned around for the hosts, however, as they proceeded to win four out of the next five “wrestled” matches against St. Thomas. Upon factoring in the visitors’ forfeits in unrepresented weight classes, Campbell emerged with team victories against Oyster River (12-6) and St. Thomas (72-11). The Cougar individual match winners against

St. Thomas were as follows: Scott Dyer, moving up to the 160 class, pinned Joe King with just over one second remaining in the first period; Richard Baril (112), after being ahead 5-2 and 7-4, went on to pin Rob Hamlet with 1:08 left in the second period; in the (119) class, Ben Billings disposed of his opponent with a win by fall with 1:03 left in the match; and Connor Perry (125), in an exciting match, took a 2-2 score late into the match before pinning his opponent Jay Carmody with 35 seconds left. “Freshmen Ben Billings (119) and Connor Perry (125) have
