he Walking & Hiking Committee invites members and guests to spend the evening of Thursday, March 17 with John and Amy Osaki of Mountain Hiking Holidays as they share the photographic splendor of Norway. Western Norway has been called the most beautiful landscape on earth. Towering granite cliffs plunge into deep, twisting fjords that wind their way for as much as 100 miles into Norway’s rocky core. Picturesque villages and farms huddle where the topography permits. Stroll to ancient stave churches, and hike to the blue face of glaciers to see how the hand of ice is still at work shaping the Scandinavian landscape. After hiking steeply uphill for about three hours, adventurers in Norway are rewarded by a spectacular view of the Fjaerland Fjord from a simple mountain hut next to a glacier. The hut, known as Flatbrehytta, is maintained by a Norwegian hiking club.
