The Honda Classic W

eek in and week out, Colombia’s Camilo Villegas is one of the hardest working players on the PGA TOUR, but the week of last year’s

Honda Classic was a notable exception. Notable, in part, because he won the tournament despite cutting back on his practice time. After finishing a respectable T8 at the previous week’s

Waste Management Phoenix Open, he flew back to Colombia (this should never be confused with dropping in at his regular home in Gainesville, FL) where he spent a couple of days helping kick off the Nationwide Tour’s Pacific Rubiales Bogota Open by playing in the pro-am. Camilo Villegas won his third PGA TOUR career title at The Honda Classic, thanks to some excellent iron play and timely putting:

• He led the field with 22 birdies.

• Villegas tied for second in Greens in Regulation.

• He made his birdie putts on 30.6 percent of his holes.
