policingourcommunity Potter Street PCSO Jason Hardy & PCSO Rebecca Durrant
Over the last couple of months we have been trying to crack down on the anti social behaviour within Prentice Place. Through an increase in high visibility patrols, we have seen a decrease in the amount of calls that have been reported and as a result the Harlow common ward is one of the safest places to live in Harlow.
With the continued road works on the A414 I would like to remind everyone again that Potter Street is a 20mph zone. My colleagues and myself are still continuing to make use of the speed gun at certain points along Potter Street and are still finding a huge number of road users not adhering to the speed limit. This will not be tolerated and if caught these offenders will be prosecuted.
Surgery Dates: Wednesday 9th February 10:00 - 12:00 at Potter Street Community Centre and every Tuesday 10:00 - 12:00 at Potter Street Baptist Church coffee morning.

Church Langley PCSO Phyllis Chipchase How to beat the bogus caller
Most people who call at your home will be genuine callers. But occasionally callers arrive unannounced, with only one thought in mind how to trick their way into your property. These callers are known as “bogus callers” or “distraction burglars” their only aim is to trick their way into your home and to distract you in order to steal your hard earned cash and valuables.
Bogus callers often work in pairs or teams. They are well organised. One will distract the householder whilst the other(s) search your home looking for anything of value. They can be anyone male Female or children.
Bogus callers can be very persuasive often claiming to be from utility companies/council etc if you are not expecting anyone or are in any doubt KEEP THEM OUT.
Lots of bogus callers use a story; they may ask for a drink or to wash their hands, they may be carrying an identity card or wear overalls with a company logo. If you are not expecting a call from the council /utility company phone them and check if they have sent a workman to your property. Keep phone numbers of utility/council jotted down and close to hand. If after these checks you still have doubts ask them to contact you by letter to arrange a more convenient time if in any doubt KEEP THEM OUT.
If you think a bogus caller has called at your property call 999 immediately.
Surgery Dates: Sunday 20th February 11:00 - 14:00 at Tesco, NAP meeting Mon 14th February 19:00 - 20:30 at the Potters Arms.
