“Thumbs down to Salem, USA Subs. We were recently treated so poorly by the owner there that I recommend that no one ever visit their establishment again. When we asked for a change in the bread that we ordered we were told that the bread was fine and that it was our taste that was the problem. They kept the sub and did not give a refund or a new sandwich, and proceeded to yell across the restaurant at us.”

road, and the plow wont plow the entire road. I understand that you have other sidewalks to plow first, but from the article in the Tribune the other day you said you always plow every sidewalk. Well that is a false statement, you only plow half of Fraser Drive and the road is right next to Barron School. Shame on the superintendent for making children risk there own lives to walk to school. Children should feel safe going to school whether it is by walking or taking a bus. My child should not feel like they may have the chance of dieing while walking to school everyday.”

“Thumbs up to Rep. Paul Mirski, chair of the House Legislative Administration Committee, for admitting that ‘it would be foolish for us to go any further’ and to Legislative Ethics Committee Chairman Martin Gross for berating Republican Rep. Phil Greazzo for ‘creating a distracting political sideshow.’”

“Thumbs down to people who don't clear the

snow off their vehicle roofs creating a hazard for the rest of us. It's easily removed from the top of your van or SUV with a push broom.”

“Thumbs down to the woman who whined about 2 Chihuahuas harassing and lunging at her bull mastiff in the middle of the street. You should have just let your 100+ pound mastiff just eat them.”

“Thumbs down to DiFruscia, no wonder

you were not elected. The right to bear arms is in the Constitution and is a the second most important right to our Republic. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with this document before you start making comments our children's education. An armed society is safer than an unarmed. All opinions are welcome but you look like such a fool.”

“Thumbs down to Everyday Math and to the culture of excuses. I counseled against adopting Everyday Math. But it is not the main reason that Salem kids do not do well in math. The best research points to teacher quality. As for the probable teacher who blamed poverty and parents for the districts shortcomings, in

schools (e.g. AIPCS in Oakland) where all students are disadvantaged 100% achieve proficiency in Reading and in Math and nearly 100% in Science and History. In fact bad teachers have the same deleterious effect on student performance, as does the socioeconomic qualities of the parents.”

“Thumbs up to the fellow from the Salem Conservation Commission who clears and trims the trails in the Salem Town Forest. We met him on the trails this fall and we're thankful for the work he does to make snowshoeing and cross country skiing so enjoyable throughout the forest...and so does our dog. We really enjoy spending time there. Thanks for the hard work.”

“Thumbs down to Sarah Palin. She and her

“Thumbs up to all smokers. I don't smoke but that is because I have a right to choose. I just don't understand why you smokers don't stand up for your rights. Once this is taken away, what do you think will be next. If I own a business and want to serve smokers, that used to be my right. If I don't smoke and don't want to be around it, then I don't go there. Let the market decide. Stand up for your rights and I will stand with you.”

people are fighting back about the rifle scope crosshairs map that targeted Gabrielle Gifford an many others in the last election. Gabrielle herself complained of the inappropriateness of this tactic and said ‘there are consequences for these kinds of actions.’ Republicans are speaking up for her and criticizing the press for bringing up this target map. How would Sarah react if the democrats were targeting her in this manner if she were running for political office. She would go ballistic.”

“Thumbs down, a HUGE ‘thumbs down’ to the Department of Public Works in Salem. I have been calling every year for almost 10 years about how Fraser Drive's sidewalk doesn't get fully plowed. The man I talked to Dave, quote on quote said that they only plow to house number 16. But the whole street is expected to walk to school in the road! He told me the only way the sidewalk could get plowed is if a child got hit by a car because they had to walk in the middle of the road. What I don't understand is if the plow goes up to house number 16, why cant it go all the way down the street so kids can walk home safely.

I

think it is absurd that I got told I needed to drive my child too school, when they could walk to school because the bus doesn't come up our

“Thumbs down to the police fiasco in town here and shooting that man, everybody knows you can throw a knife through a windshield. What bothers me is while they are investigating the unions they are put on administrative leave with pay. When I worked we called that a vacation. What a boondoggle, no wonder the town is broke.”
