Units 11, 16, 18 and 19 hold holiday party
Jim and Judy Luke enjoyed the holiday party with Karen Bridge.
Karen Bridge and Pat Avery On Tuesday, December 14, 2010, Units
11, 16, 18, and 19 came together for this year’s annual holiday dinner and dance party. Over 150 neighbors enjoyed a festive evening in The Vistas Dining Room. At six o’clock a cash bar started serving cocktails, and dinner was served at seven o’clock. The menu included a choice of New York strip steak or salmon with dill sauce; side dishes included roasted red potatoes and brocollini. This year’s dessert was orange cream shortbread cake.
Live music was performed by Night
Heart on the Vermillion dance fl oor. Many people danced the night away! And others enjoyed the music and got to socialize. All in all, it was great fun and an opportunity to celebrate the holidays with friends and neighbors. Many
thanks go out to Johanna
Pawelczyk, Pam Holder, Jim Luke, Karen Bridge, and Gan and Pat Avery. They worked together to make the evening a memorable and successful experience for everyone! 

Sue Case December is a festive month, and Unit 27
had its share of festivities. The unit holiday party was held on Sunday, December 12, at the MountainView Clubhouse in the Palo Verde Dining Room and was attended by 61 residents. The menu included a saucy fi let mignon or a cheesy tilapia, and a peppermint stick hot fudge sundae (and, of course, everything in-between). Music for listening and dancing was provided by Lindsay Nicholson. Gail Riddle entertained everyone with a
special accessory to her holiday garb; and one of the young waiters led the revelers in a conga line. It was a lively evening; and everyone had a spirited time dancing, visiting, laughing, and singing.
The very next day, Monday, December
13, 23 of our female residents got together (a feat in itself!) for a ladies’ holiday luncheon.
The organizers thought they had booked the luncheon with the El Conquistador Resort, but had inadvertently made reservations at the country club. After that initial awkward surprise, a grand convoy of ladies made its way from the resort to the country club. However, at the country club they received a happy surprise--former Unit 27 resident, Mary Vallone, now the events planner for the country club, was there to greet her friends and former neighbors with welcoming gifts of fi ne chocolate bars and warm hugs. In addition to the tasty food, the attendees played a game, led by Donna Utz, which involved familiar quotes from famous celebrities. The winners of the game were Darlene Breitenfeld, Jean Lestingi, Betty Zanatta, and Jan Talbot. The afternoon was fi lled with adventure, good food, and great friendship. Everyone left with a happy holiday spirit. 
