Day 1: Auckland – Waipoua Kauri Forest
Visit the Kauri & Pioneer Museum on the journey north to Hokianga Harbour. After dinner enjoy a rainforest ‘Twilight Encounter’ and be blown away by the experience.
Days 2 & 3: Paihia – Bay of Islands
This morning soak up the sights and sounds of the Harbour. After lunch travel to Paihia to explore the gorgeous Bay of Islands, a National Maritime Park and home to 144 islands. There is a full day here to explore the area.
Days 4 & 5: Bay of Islands – Rotorua
Travel south today past Auckland and on to Rotorua. This region never fails to enthral and excite. The time here is free to explore the town - from mud baths to mountain biking and Maori cultural experiences, there’s plenty to choose from.
Day 6: Rotorua – Tongariro National Park
See the spectacular Huka Falls, mouth of the mighty Waikato River and tranquil Lake Taupo. Travel south and cross the vast volcanic plateau of World Heritage-listed Tongariro National Park. This afternoon is at leisure to explore one of the many short walking tracks or simply relax in New Zealand’s first national park.
B, D Day 7: Tongariro National Park – Wellington
Travel south again today and into the nation’s capital, Wellington. This afternoon there is a guided tour of fascinating Te Papa, the National Museum of New Zealand.
Day 8: Wellington Tour ends after breakfast.

Day 8: Wellington – Nelson
Journey across Cook Strait through the Marlborough Sounds to Picton. Take a leisurely scenic journey to Nelson. There is free time to explore one of the most beautiful regions of New Zealand.
Day 9: Nelson
There are many optional activities available. Take a water taxi along Abel Tasman’s stunning coastlines or perhaps a guided sea kayaking experience. The choice is yours!
B 135 B, D B x 2 B x 2, D D Day 10: Nelson – Punakaiki
Journey today alongside the Nelson Lakes National Park, where there is time to explore this spectacular area. You have the opportunity to visit Lake Rotoiti or Lake Rotoroa and enjoy short walks through this region. Overnight at Punakaiki, nestled into the foothills of the Paparoa National Park. It’s a magnificent oceanfront location, with spectacular views of the wild West Coast beaches.
B, D Day 11: Punakaiki – Fox Glacier
Take time to explore Punakaiki further before heading to Fox Glacier village. This afternoon, tackle a hike on Fox Glacier and walk amongst crevasses and ice ridges.
Days 12-14: Fox Glacier – Queenstown
Continue past Lake Wanaka to the adventure capital, Queenstown. Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and overlooked by the majestic Southern Alps, it was so named because it was ‘fit for a Queen’. There is a free day to explore this popular destination, as well as experiencing a cruise on the TSS Earnslaw and a sumptuous dinner and high country sheep show.
Day 15: Queenstown – Milford Sound – Te Anau
Travel through Fiordland National Park to magnificent Milford Sound for an unforgettable cruise. You may even see dolphins, seals and penguins in their natural habitat. Continue to Te Anau.
Day 16: Te Anau – Lake Ohau
This morning travel to magnificent Lake Ohau. This tranquil lakeside settlement lies on the outskirts of Mt Cook National Park. The hotel for the night boasts awesome views!
Day 17: Lake Ohau – Christchurch B, D
Travel to Lake Punakaki for some great photo opportunities across the lake to Mt Cook. Continue to Lake Tekapo for a short walk before continuing on to Christchurch.
