Hertz New Zealand provides a superior service and has over 50 depots throughout the North and South Island, including offices at every International airport, inter-island ferry terminals and downtown locations.

• Hertz has over 50 depots conveniently located in all CBD and regional locations throughout New Zealand including: Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch, Greymouth, Dunedin, Queenstown. A full list of depots is available on application.


Optional equipment


• Baby capsules/Booster seats/child seats approx NZ$40.00 + GST per rental.


• Ski racks and/or chains approx ND$17.25 + GST per day each. Maximum charge $120.75 + GST


• Optional equipment must be pre-booked and is payable on collection of your vehicle.


Conditions of hire Duration of hire


• Hire based on 24 hour rental period. • Minimum hire period of one day


• Minimum hire period of three days on first island if multi-island hire.


• If taking the ferry or flying between the islands, there must be a minimum 3 days per hire/segment, otherwise a fee may apply.


• Hertz vehicles cannot be taken on the inter-island ferry. When using the ferry between Wellington and Picton, renters must return the vehicle to the Hertz location at the ferry departure terminal and collect another vehicle upon arrival at the other island - this is classified as a Multi-Island Hire.


• Hires that are using airport locations as pickup and drop off points opposed to the ferry terminals are classified as Continuous Hires. All continuous hires will also be based on the total number of voucher days and can be no more than 5 hours between returning one vehicle and collecting the next and consist of a 3 day minimum per segment.

• Hertz offers a grace period of 59 minutes on the last day, after which late return charges are as follows:


• 1 hour late - a full day rental applies. Driver qualifications


• All drivers must be 21 years of age or over with a valid driver’s licence which must be in English or an international permit will be required


• The following age restrictions apply: 21 years Category B,C,D,E,F,H and K 25 years - Category M.


• There is no set maximum driving age, however a medical certificate is recommended for drivers over 75 years. Deposits


• All renters are subject to refundable deposit of NZ$200, which is paid at the commencement of each hire and charged to the hirer’s credit card.


Refunds


• No refunds will be issued on any unused portion of the inclusive tour voucher.


One-way rentals


• One way rentals are permitted for certain car groups and drop off charges may apply (details on application)


Additonal drivers


• There is no extra charge for additional drivers Included renter protection services


• Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) provides Accident Damage Cover which is subject to Accident Damage Excess. Group B to F NZ$3000 + GST Plus GST, Group K, H & M NZ$3500 + GST


• Third Party Property Liability Insurance is automatically covered when the car is registered.


Optional rental protection services


• Hertz has a number of optional rental protection services packages available at time of hire to reduce Accident Damage Excess. These are payable direct. You should also check what is covered by your travel insurance policy.


Mandatory costs payable direct to Hertz


• Airport Concession Fee Recovery (ACFR) for airport and ferry terminal pick-ups.
