Prescott or a short, scenic, 90-minute drive north of Phoenix. Rim, a 200-mile-long limestone ridge that rises 2,000 feet in elevation north of Payson, extending from Flagstaff to Eastern Arizona. Wildlife such as elk and deer can be seen from any location along the rim and during winter, cross- country skiers head for the rim. If downhill skiing is your desire, Sunrise Park Resort, located just a short distance from Payson, is a renowned ski area with a variety of year- round amenities.
