TranspoQuip Latin America & Expo Estadio


Withmore than 3,000 attendees and 200- plus exhibitors, TranspoQuip Latin Ameri- ca 2009 and Expo Estadio 2009, held jointly inmid-November in Sao Paulo, Brazil, were a resounding success, accord- ing to Sebas van den Ende, Executive Director for the two shows.


“We had twice the number of people on Day One as we did last year,” van den Ende said. “It was fantastic.”


Exhibitors seemed very pleased with the traffic and the quality of the leads, he added. For example, Leonard Simek of Southland Printing in Louisiana said, “We had a great trip in regards to business.We (were) able tomeet withmany customers and had great traffic through our booth.”


While TranspoQuip is focused on trans- portation and Expo Estadio on building sta- diums (a considerable business, now that Brazil is hosting theWorld Cup and the Summer Olympics in the next six years), parking had strong interest on both the exhibitor and attendee side. Latin America seems to be amarket that will be growing in parking over the next few years.


ParkingWorld magazine sponsored the educational session, with three presenta- tions by Dennis Cunning of DLC Con- sulting and PW’s Andy Van Horn, on rev- enue control, event parking and on-street parking issues. Though presented in Eng- lish, there was a simultaneous translation in Portuguese.


“This was great,” said Cunning, “because itmeant we were able to reach a larger audience. But it alsomeant that laughter at our jokes came two seconds later than we are used to.”


The group also very knowledgeable about parking, Andy Van Horn said. “It was great to have such a passionate audience. Many people stayed after to ask ques- tions,” he said.
