THANKS to generous donations and numerous fundraisers, Bovey Tracey and district Macmillan Cancer Support group has raised £17,000 this year. ‘We’ve managed to raise the same amount as in 2009, people are extremely generous,’ said Kelly Hayman-Bruce, who is instrumental in collecting funds for the charity.

THEY walked 18 miles along the Templer Way and raised about £1,800 for Shaldon Pre-school. Parents, staff and committee members of Shaldon Pre-school and families took part in the trek from Haytor to the London Inn, Shaldon.

REHEARSALS are in full swing for this season’s Dawlish Repertory Company pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk. It’s time to get in the mood to hiss at the giant, cheer the fairy and have a good singalong when the company produces the fun show at the Shaftesbury Theatre, Dawlish, from January 7-15.

PUPILS from Ilsington Primary School were the guests of honour when the Co-op unveiled a £600,000 makeover of its Trago Mills store. The youngsters, who had previously worked with the firm on a Fairtrade project, were asked to cut a
ribbon.Not only did they get their five minutes of fame but walked away with a cheque for £200 for the school’s coffers too.
