Diving in Okinawa These little known islands are a subtropical paradise. Living at a slower pace, relaxed and sun-soaked, Okinawans are famous for their longevity. Perhaps their secret lies in their diet of fresh seafood, which their waters are teeming with. The rich marine life is a joy to see, as well as to taste, and Okinawa boasts several world-class diving spots among its 160 islands.
Skiing Head north to Niseko on northern Hokkaido island during Japan’s winter for some ski and snowboarding action. This is one of the few opportunities for visitors to enjoy winter sports in the Far East. Japan has some of the heaviest snowfall in Asia, and arguably, also the best quality powder snow in the world. Niseko has a wide variety of runs as well as a quaint village atmosphere perfect for winter relaxation.
Cooking Japanese cooking lessons could be just that extra something you are looking for to spice up your itinerary. Learn the secrets behind sushi, or the technique of simmering the perfect sukiyaki (steamboat). Getting the tempura batter just right will equally require expert instruction. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, we can even arrange visits to sample some ‘unique’ regional dishes, like bee larvae ‘hachi no ko’ in Matsumoto or crab brains ‘kani miso’
in Niigata.
