Lotus Lantern Festival – April
Place: Jongno area, one of Seoul’s landmark traditional festivals The annual Lotus Lantern Festival celebrates Buddha’s birthday. The lighting of a lotus-shaped lantern in Buddhism traditionally symbolises a display of religious devotion to performing good deeds and lighting up the dark parts of the world that are filled with agony. The festival offers visitors the chance to make a lantern themselves, taste temple dishes and experience much more.

Andong Mask Dance Festival – September to October
Place: downtown Andong, Andong –si, Gyeongsangbuk-do The Andong festival aims to promote its tradition and culture through mask dances, mimes and marionette performances, providing plenty of entertainment.

Boryeong Mud Festival – July
Place: Daecheon Beach and downtown area, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do The mud festival offers a unique experience as one of Korea’s most famous and fun events. Boryeong mud is rich in minerals and is great for the skin. With its fun filled programmes such as a mega mud bath, mud wrestling, mud sliding and mud hand printing, the festival offers visitors opportunities to receive facial masks and massages with pure, well refined sea mud.
Place: Gwangju-si World Cup Park area The Gwangju Kimchi Festival celebrates what could be called Korea’s ‘National’ food, Kimchi. There is a sampling corner, a buffet of Kimchi and various complimentary dishes, and visitors can even learn how to make Kimchi. This popular festival is a must for visitors who are interested in Korea’s traditional foods.
