Connection welcome

Hello and welcome to the New Year edition of the CM17 Connection.

Now is the time to look forward (so I won’t mention Christmas and that I hoped you had a fabulous one!) A time when most, if not all of us, start to make plans for the coming year. Some believe that changes can be made at any time of year and I quite agree but there is something about the anticipation, the starting over that has always inspired me to make at least one or two New Year Resolutions!

So, here’s mine - to lose a little weight (I know!) and to start walking regularly again. To cook more (as opposed to re-heat!), see more of my friends and remember to have more fun! So, for those that know me - it’s in writing, gentle reminders please...oh, and invite yourself round for dinner!

If you’re planning to start work on you, your garden or your house this year please don’t forget to use CM17 to source any services you may need, I think we’ve got just about everything covered! Maybe we can then have a communal resolution - support local groups and businesses whenever we can!

And if you’re planning on doing that outlandish dream and would like to share it with us, get in contact and inspire the rest of us. If you are planning on doing some charitable work or raising funds in unusual ways this year - do get in touch, perhaps we can learn from you?

Inspired by the great response from our recent photographic competition, John and I thought it would be great to run another one - if we’re honest we just wanted to see some more of your fantastic photographs! If you received a camera for Christmas this could be a great way of really getting to grips with it, details are on page 46, good luck!

As ever, we have all our regular features for you. But this month our Local People is a little different. John met with Rebecca Evans - fresh out of Uni and raring to get stuck into her chosen fi eld of Illustration. It’s a really interesting and candid article. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone out there in CM17 could help her? I wish Rebecca the very best of luck but something tells me that with her tenacity she may not be needing it!

Until next month, Lorraine
