THE ROCHESTER CARILLON 2nd St & 2nd Ave SW The 56-bell carillon, atop the Plummer Building, is the most com- plete in North America. Heard outdoors in downtown Rochester, 30 minute concerts are Mon, 7 pm; Weds and Fri, noon.

www.rochesterfranciscan.org Situated on 100 acres high on a hill northwest of the city, home to the Sisters of St. Francis. Visitors are welcomed to an ornate lobby with slate floor, Italian marble columns, and hand-blown stained glass windows from Germany. Under the leadership of Mother Al- fred Moes, the sisters were instrumental in establishing Saint Marys Hospital—the first hospital in Rochester, predating Mayo Clinic. Guided tours are available Mon and Sat at 2 pm by appointment. Additional times may be arranged for groups of 10 or more upon request. Donations are appreciated.
SOLDIERS FIELD VETERANS MEMORIAL 3rd Ave and 7th St SW 507-289-8981
www.soldiersfieldmemorial.org Consists of four 60-foot circular granite walls that feature battle graphics from the Civil War to the Gulf War and stories of military events and historical facts from the Revolutionary War to the Gulf War. The focal point of the Memorial is the Wall of Remembrance, a granite wall 12 feet high by 50 feet long that contains the names of 2,300 men and women from SE Minnesota who died, and there are also 4,920 engraved granite pavers with the names of those who served. Cannons from the Gulf War and World War I are also featured.
