CHANGES HER FUTURE M

ATLANTA’S QUEEN OF TEXTING

arie Antoinette Burrell has faced many challenges, yet has courageously turned things around to become known as the Queen of Texting. She is currently the owner of TALKTEXT Mobile Messaging Solutions and Marketing Director at GoTextTalk.com.

When Marie was born, her parents were teenagers and unwed. She was raised by her great grandparents along with a host of aunts and uncles in an unstable and often volatile environment. She remembers getting off the school bus in second grade and discovering that she and her mother had been put out, once again.

“I vowed that when I became an adult and had children, things would be different,” she says.

Despite all these trials, Marie has indeed changed her life. In addition to becoming an entrepreneur, Marie is a mother, U.S. Air Force veteran, Toastmaster, and excellent down-home southern cook. She attended college at Southern Illinois University at

Carbondale and recently completed a gradu- ate certifi cate in Social Media Integration from Drury University. Future plans include build- ing strong alliances with major corporations and advertising agencies while expanding her mobile marketing company.

If all that isn’t enough, Marie also founded Texting Organization

Against Distracted

Driving (TOADD). Her organization seeks to heighten awareness and provide education about the dangers of driving distracted, cell phone risks, and social media site dangers. Since driving while texting has become the number one killer of teen drivers, TOADD’s mission is to save lives, she says.

Marie’s favorite quote is from Oprah Winfrey:

“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.”
