GETTING TO KNOW.......
Have you ever come home from work in the evening, only to discover that your precious puppy is limping? Or maybe your cuddly cat has a wound that wasn’t there when you left that morning? Or, what about another problem that isn’t life threatening but may still require medical attention? If so, you may have asked yourself the question: “Do we really need to go to the emergency room or can we wait until the morning?” Maybe you were concerned about the drive into town, the long wait times, or the more expensive nature of the emergency room. If the pets are stable, they will receive outpatient care (labora- tory, x-rays, injections and medications to go home if indicated) and will return to their family veterinarian in the morning for a re- evaluation. If the pets have a critical illness or require major surgery, the AMEC will work closely with the local critical care hospitals for immediate transfer and hospitalization. The AMEC is open from 6pm until midnight Monday through Friday, 4pm to midnight on Saturdays, and 12 noon to 10pm on Sundays.
