Judges' comments: The judges felt Ken has an infectious approach to gardening, inspiring and challenging his listeners to develop their skills. The entry
demonstrated Ken is equally at home in the studio discussing rhubarb with young gardeners, or out and about in the community.
Seaside Remembrance Service
& Walk For St Elizabeth Hospice A date has been set for the next St Elizabeth Hospice Walk of Thoughts - and this time there will be an open-air remembrance service on the beach.
The fundraising walk will take place on Sunday 6th March 2011 following a 5.5 mile circular route through Dunwich Heath National Trust country- side.
This will be the fifth annual Walk of Thoughts and the sponsored event is set to attract around 150 keen walkers and those who want to remem-
ber a loved one. The event is set to raise around £10,000 to help pro- vide St Elizabeth Hospice services free of charge throughout East Suffolk.
For the first time the walk will be preceded by an outdoor remembrance service on the beach at 11am. The service will be led by Hospice chap- lain the Revd Jane Kingsnorth and provide an opportunity for reflection for all the walkers, not just those who have been touched by Hospice care.
St Elizabeth Hospice community fundraiser Andrea Chupacova, who is organising the Walk of Thoughts, said: "The Walk of Thoughts is an oppor- tunity to remember a friend or loved one or to simply enjoy walking in beautiful surroundings.
"For the first time we have organised an outdoor remembrance service to provide a pause for thought before the walk starts.
"All ages are welcome to join in and all money raised through the Walk of Thoughts will enable us to continue providing our care free of charge to the East Suffolk community."
St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent charity which costs £6.6m a year to run and relies largely on donations and fundraising events.
The walk is open to people of all ages. It will start from Dunwich Beach Car Park and take approximately 2.5 hours. Walkers can register in advance or on the day at 10.30am.
Registration fees in advance are £6 for adults and £4 for under 16s. On the day it will be £7 for adults and £5 for under 16s. Walkers are invited to raise as much sponsorship money as possible.
There will be free parking. Hot refreshments will be provided after the walk.
