Letter to the editor John Goodwin Felixstowe Flyer December 2010

This is a typical arrogant and unaware article found so often in Felixstowe. 'Only 3 minutes' walk from either car park to Iceland' My son is 35, very fit and very fast and even he cannot do it in three minutes! (Yes, he has timed it, too) As for me, and many like me, who used to park on the yellow lines in Hamilton Road with a blue badge, it does not take me THREE minutes, but nearer 20 minutes and having got there I would be unable to get back to my car due to total exhaustion.

The result?? I no longer can shop in Hamilton Road as even the 'parking spaces' (which, according to the Evening Star are not for the disabled but for trucks delivering to the shops) are too far away from most of the shops I used to use.

I go to Lidl, Morrisons and what I cannot get there I do without or shop online.

Stupidity in Hamilton Road

It may be 'beautiful' in Hamilton Road but it will not encourage shoppers - Felixstowe is not a 'day-out-shopping' sort of place and people will not pay to park to buy a coffee in Costa.

One of the 'reasons' for the stupidity in Hamilton Road was to cut non- existent congestion - The main effects are two-fold - Fewer people shop- ping and grossly increased congestion in every other road surrounding Hamilton Road. It has even hit the numbers using Cafe Libra in the library as there is nowhere left to park to pop in for a coffee and sandwich.

Even Oxfam has closed down

I look forward to Felixstowe becoming even more of a ghost town than it already is over the next two years. When I arrived in 1985 it was a lovely little shopping centre - mainly locally owned idiosynchratic shops - Now look at it - even Oxfam has closed down - That alone should tell the idiot powers that be something about their daft schemes.

The council wasted pots of our money painting everything which didn't move fast enough the wonderful Felistowe Blue. Now we have this abor- tion of a traffic blending scheme where even the people who are

behind it do not realise how such a scheme works - Go to Belgium and other places where they work properly.

The pedestrians are supposed to stay on the designated pavement areas and only wander into the middle when they want to get to the other side - not stand in the middle with their pushchairs and swear at drivers who want to get past. 20 miles an hour - the fastest I have man- aged so far is 8!!!

Ashford has the finest scheme in the country so Go and have a look then put the Felixstowe scheme RIGHT!!! Name and Address Supplied

A relaxed mind affects the body Focus on Tracey Newton

My work as a hypnotherapist and complementary healer consists of relaxing my clients and assisting them to overcome stress and pain. After spending considerable time working with clients to help them with smoking and weight issues, I decided to specialize in pain relief. A relaxed mind affects the body, as does a tense mind and both states have a profound effect on the body.

I relax my clients, put them at ease and work with their subconscious minds (imagination), making positive suggestions to improve their stressful feelings. Very often clients don't consciously remember every suggestion but this makes no difference because the subconscious mind is fully aware of everything around them at all times. Clients are always in con- trol of the situation and I discuss my methods before we proceed.

Hypnosis is not an unconscious condition, and the client is in a relaxed frame of mind, similar to daydreaming or that wonderful feeling just prior to falling asleep. Very often I work in silence, because many clients just enjoy the sense of total peace. This in itself is very effective in assisting people to deal with pain and stress. Sometimes I work by therapeutic touch with the client's written consent beforehand, involving gentle non- intrusive touch. Many clients are comforted by their hands being held or my hands on their shoulders. It is a very relaxing experience. For more information please call 07812 756061
