G2E Round-up Glyn Thomas reports back on the show that keeps smiling
early dissenting voices about low visitor numbers, whilst I was travelling extensively between the halls the footfall seemed very good – peaking on the late-morning of the first and second days. Exhibitor numbers were naturally down as could be expected but there were no real dead zones and most stands looked relevant (Do you remember the days of three guys looking sad and bored next to a replica glass-fibre palm tree?).
Inevitably it was the top slots manufacturers who drew the most crowds with IGT taking a welcome step of having “less product”. James Boje had hinted such at ENADA a few months earlier but to see it in practice was almost revolutionary – it takes balls to not fill up your stand with every weapon you have in your arsenal but it paid off – clear defined areas of good product that everyone could get around – and view from a distance. Getting close is great but so is seeing equipment in scale and context as it would be on a floor. A back-to-business feeling also prevailed with a lot more suits and ties – less polo shirts this year.

ere at casino life we gave up a while back on trying to report back every nuance of every major gaming
exhibition for a number of reasons: You can never cover all of the ground and provide comprehensive coverage of every exhibitor; Inevitably you miss someone out who gets annoyed; Finally, If you really wanted to know what the show was like you should have gone yourself. That said we do like to provide a round up as inevitably the shows act as good “litmus tests” for the economy and besides at every show there is always something that catches the eye – good and bad.
At G2E 2010 the general mood was certainly more upbeat than in the past 2 years and despite a few
