Hamilton alum works for AdvanceNOLA
Hamilton High School alumnus and former Chandler Service Club Flower Girl Bailey Schultz is creating a public relations campaign for AdvanceNOLA through Schultz’s Writing for Public Relations class at Loyola University in New Orleans. AdvanceNOLA is a nonprofit organization devoted to taking Advanced Placement and honors courses to public and charter high schools in and around New Orleans, where the majority of students eat free or reduced-price lunches and would be the first to attend college in their families.
“This is a great opportunity for public relations students to get real-world experience while learning about the problems public schools in New Orleans face on a day-to-day basis,” said Shultz. “Coming from Arizona, I had no idea how the schools in New Orleans operate and this experience just made me even more passionate about the city.”
After moving to the city three years ago for college, Shultz says she “fell in love” with New Orleans and hopes to work as a public relations professional at a local nonprofit after graduation.

The 2011 lineup of events at Firebird International Raceway begins with the NHRA Division 7 Series Opener Feb. 1 through 20, followed by the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season opener on March 19 and 20, with the final event in the series taking place Dec. 10 and 11.
Other 2011 events include Bugorama, America’s longest-running VW event, on March 27; the All-Harley Drag Racing Association Nationals in April and the NAPA Auto Parts Monster Truck Nationals on April 30; Lucas Oil Drag Boat Series events in May and November; the return of the Super Chevy Show Oct. 29 and 30; and the NAPA Auto Parts World Finals Nov. 17 through 20.
The 2011 NHRA Arizona Nationals is now scheduled for Oct. 14 through 16, ensuring the race a spot among the NHRA six-race Points Countdown, the sport’s equivalent of the championship playoffs.
The preseason NHRA warm-up, officially referred to as the Time Trials Test & Tune, will not be taking place at Firebird in 2011.
