The physicians at Ocotillo Foot and Ankle have been helping Chandler residents put their best feet forward since June 2009. Drs. Mary Peters and Robert T. Evans offer a full range of podiatry services and more.

“I’m also a wound care specialist on the board of Chandler Regional Medical Center’s Wound Healing Center,” says Peters, “and Dr. Evans is additionally board certifi ed in reconstructive surgery/trauma. This is an ideal location for us because it is convenient for our patients and in close proximity to the hospitals.”

Feet, each with 26 bones, 33 joints and more than 100 tendons, muscles and ligaments, not only hold humans up and get them where they need to go, they also are indicators of overall health. That is one reason why the National Institute of Health stresses that even seemingly minor foot problems should receive medical attention.

The Chandler foot specialists handle podiatric needs from routine checkups to treatments for surgery. A few of the common problems include bunions, calluses and corns, Plantar warts and

Local ‘Biggest Loser’ creates winners

Focus on Fitness of Chandler’s recent “Biggest Loser Contest” resulted in one winner, but two success stories. Competitors RoseMarie Zimbelman and Kelli Patterson lost a combined 105 pounds in 16 weeks on personal trainer Brenda Bark’s standard Focus on Fitness program, which includes fi ve to six small

meals each day, liberal fl uid intake, and cardio and weight training. While Zimbelman was the offi cial winner of the contest which focused on inches lost, body appearance and clothing fi t, everyone benefi ted, says Bark.

“Both contestants worked hard and got used to

the Focus on Fitness workouts, which got harder and more intense every week,” she says. “Both ladies are already feeling more energetic.”

The physicians of Ocotillo Foot and Ankle keep their own feet busy in the community, too.

Evans bikes competitively and spends most weekends racing throughout Arizona and the Southwest. Peters is a runner who completed several half marathons. Her next athletic endeavor is to run in the P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon in January. Peters says because their philosophy is that an informed patient is best prepared to make decisions about her or his health, there is an extensive, easy-to-understand library on their website www.ocotillofootankle.com with a wide range of information regarding podiatry and podiatric diagnoses and treatments. Patients can also fi nd details about insurance coverage, offi ce hours and make an appointment online. Ocotillo Foot and Ankle is located at 270 W. Chandler Heights Rd. in Southern Chandler.
