It’s not every day that we embrace folks that steal and lie, but sometimes, just sometimes it’s worth being ‘bad’. Take the example of Jeff and Jason Ledellayt- ner who, last year for Christmas, decided to liberate their father’s 1969 Norton Com- mando 750 from their parents’ basement and garage. The bike was in pieces, in boxes, in baggies, and had been sitting


there for a long time. The brothers forged a plan to ‘steal’ the bike, get it to a compa- ny who could restore it and hopefully give it to their father for Christmas. There are thoughtful Christmas gifts and then there is this kind of gift. The Norton had come into Daddy (Rich)


Ledellaytner’s life back in the 1970’s when his brother had owed him some monies and Rich took the bike in lieu of cash. It was during this time that Rich gave his boys a taste for two wheeling adventures,

mostly in hayfields on dirt bikes. He had enjoyed the Norton for several years up until the 1990’s before, like most beautiful British vintage bikes, it began to pack in. Once dead, the bike sat, used as a hang- er for rugs. Its various parts found dusty homes on the shelves of the Ledellaytner’s basement and garage. Rich had told his boys over the years IF they wanted to piece it back together, they were welcome to it but life, love and careers took them away from the homestead and the Norton took a


backseat and was all but forgotten…until last Christmas. Jeff says his Father always remained


sort of sentimental about the Norton, and so there was always a little glint of love in his eye when he offered the old bike to his boys. Then, Jeff came into some money.


He asked his brother Jason how much it would cost to get the bike up and running. Initially Jeff was thinking See page 2
