Europeans receive major awards at IMAPS-NA (North America) in Raleigh, USA During the recent meetings in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, Nihal Sinnadurai, president of IMAPS Europe, was recognized with the President’s Award. ELC Paul Collander, past president of

Global community of microelectronics packaging engineers restored The International Relationship Policy (IRP) agreement between IMAPS-Europe and IMAPS North America (NA) resulted from determined commitment by the European Liaison Committee (ELC) and counterparts in IMAPS-NA. The intense negotiations were between Nihal Sinnadurai (IMAPS-Europe president) and Doug Bokil (IMAPS-NA past president). In addition to providing the platform for leading edge technology in the field of ‘Building Blocks of Electronics,’ the meetings in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, between Nihal and the IMAPS-NA leadership reaffirmed the other key arm of the relationship, namely the community and network of friends. In recognition of the positive

commitment to facilitate the IRP, Doug Bokil received the IMAPS-Europe President’s Award, also presented at the awards ceremony in Raleigh.

IMAPS-NA Web-based services— glitch solved. Affiliates and Members receive solution, explanation and apology The following email was sent from IMAPS- NA to all members:

Dear IMAPS Member: Earlier this year IMAPS (NA) launched

a new “member database” and related website components. This software manages all of the IMAPS membership accounts, registrations,

transactions and log-in procedure for our on-line users. It was brought to our attention that this new software resulted in confusion and challenges logging into the website. With the help of our IMAPS colleagues in Europe, we have identified the log-in/navigation problems, and we were able to develop a solution. We apologise for the problems encountered and recommend the following when you login to access Advancing Microelectronics (AM), the Journal of Microelectronics & Electronics Packaging (JMEP), or technical articles within iKnow Microelectronics: (1) Access www.imaps.org; (2) LOG-

IN with your primary e-mail and password; (3) Browse Magazine, Journal or iKnow; - Example: click on ‘Publications’ on the left menu, and follow links from there to AM, JMEP or iKnow; (4) The first publication you attempt to download may list that “you are not logged in properly…”; (5) Follow the link provided to correct the log-in; (6) As stated in the red highlighted text at the top of the page, click on the left menu link for: “iKnow Micro. Library”; (7) This takes you to the window in which ‘download now’ is enabled; (8) Click and download the required publication.

34th IMAPS-CPMT Poland 2010 Conference The 34th IMAPS-CPMT Poland 2010 Conference organized by Wroclaw University of Technology (Faculty of Microsystem Electronics and Photonics) took place in Wroclaw on 22-25 September, 2010. This year’s conference was organized together with 10th ELTE-2010 Conference. It was good opportunity to exchange the scientific results between wide range of scientists and specialists from electronic industry. The conference presentations were divided into plenary sessions, section sessions and poster sessions. About 220 participants and 8 exhibitors presented over 210 papers evaluated by the Scientific Committees of both Conferences. After their recommendation, about 140 papers will be published in indexed journals (Microelectronics Reliability, Optica Applicata, Materials Science and Elektronika).
