Local Children Offered Shopping Spree of a Lifetime
by Doug Robinson Searching for toys, gifts, and those special somethings for their family members and friend, over 145 area children were offered the opportunity of a lifetime to shop at the Hudson Wal-Mart with donated gift cards, which were valued $100 each. The shopping spree was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Nashua. For the third year, Rotarians offered $10,000 and Wal-Mart offered an additional $4,500.
Children from the Nashua Boys & Girls Club and Nashua’s Girls Inc, who ranged in ages from 5-18, arrived at Wal-Mart by three buses. Upon
arriving at Wal-Mart, volunteer adult helpers paired up with the children to assist them with their shopping needs. Searching the aisles, they grabbed scarves,
gloves, games, toys, and those special items that they most wanted under the Christmas tree. The Nashua Telegraph quotes the Nashua Rotary member and event organizer as stating, “This is a fabulous thing for them. Most of these kids probably have never had the opportunity to go out and buy for their families.”
Kids had created shopping lists ahead of time and had already researched the availability of merchandise at the Wal-Mart.

Conservation Commission Chairman Quinn Rescinds Resignation
by Doug Robinson Conservation Commission Chairman Tim Quinn rescinded his resignation of his position as Chairman of the Conservation Commission during the recent Board of Selectmen’s meeting.
Quinn had recently resigned from the committee as a result of comments made by Hudson selectmen. “What I am seeing here is very little support for
the environmental issues in the town. Mr. Massey, you will have my resignation in the morning,” he stated. However, due to the concerted efforts by Selectman Roger Coutu, “He pursued me and convinced me that this would be a good thing to do.” Chairman Ken Massey stated, “I am glad you reconsidered. You make tremendous contributions here.”

Hudson Residents Line Up to Volunteer Their Time and Talents for the Town
by Doug Robinson More than three-dozen residents of the Hudson community filled the Board of Selectmen’s room to volunteer their time for the various boards and committees—positions that are now being appointed by Hudson Board of Selectmen. Applicants spoke of their commitment to Hudson, as well as their time as incumbents. “I would love to continue,” stated applicant Keith Bowen, incumbent member to the Recreation Committee.
Selectmen spoke of their
appreciation for the dedication of the volunteers and that the town owed them a debt of gratitude. In addition, Selectman Roger Coutu commented that he has “personally witnessed your time and your involvement” to Sewer Utility Committee applicant Bernie Manor. Selectman Richard Maddox stated that it was “due to these individuals that Hudson is the town it is.”
Decisions as to who will
fill what positions will be announced at the next Board of Selectmen’s meeting.
