Get a job in water sports
Flying Fish finds job opportunities all over the world for sailors, divers, surfers and windsurfers to work as instructors.
Imagine earning money in a glamorous location where the climate suits your outdoor lifestyle. You could soon be getting paid to introduce people to your favourite sport, with plenty of time to improve your own skills too.
To work as an instructor you need good communication skills and professional qualifications. That’s where Flying Fish comes in, running instructor courses in Greece and Australia for the Royal Yachting Association, Yachting Australia, Surfing Australia and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
Before you start training, you should prepare a CV or resume with the qualifications you expect to achieve. Apply for instructor jobs listed at
flyingfishonline.com - and start networking! There are usually more instructor jobs than applicants so there is no excuse not to get hired.
Most people start with a Mediterranean summer season, where you should expect a weekly wage of no more than £100 at first, approximately $165. Your living expenses are minimal, though, and accommodation is provided. In many places you get free meals as well.
If you start work in Australia as a surf instructor you will earn $25 an hour. That’s about £15. If you get qualified as a PADI dive instructor and work as a deckhand on a luxury superyacht you can expect to collect $4,000 a month plus tips.
