Superyachts, so called because they are bigger than 24m in length, are magnificent with no expense spared and their owners expect high standards of presentation and customer service on board. There is currently a big demand for skilled and qualified crew on superyachts. Generally bigger yachts mean more responsibility and better pay.
STCW 95 Basic Safety training is required by all crew working on a superyacht. If you’re looking to step on board as a deckhand, you should also have an RYA Powerboat level 2 certificate for driving tenders, a marine radio operator’s license and a Competent Crew certificate.
Superyacht officers including captain, mate and officer of the watch all require Yachtmaster/Master of Yachts 200gt certification to start.
