mie Lyon, boxers Lovemore Ndou and Shannon Taylor, cage fighter Jason Gorton and a number of kick boxing world champions. In fact, six players from last year’s Rugby League State Of Origin starting line-up were wearing Rhino Mouthguards. More locally, he looks after both the Clovelly Crocodiles and Clovelly Eagles junior rugby league and union clubs in his home suburb. One of the big drawcards of John’s Rhino Mouthguards is the price. While dentists and com- petitors get away with charging upward of $300 for their product, Rhino mouthguards are only $150 for adults and $100 for children and all graphics and coloured mouthguards come at no extra cost. They are undoubtedly the best value mouthguards in Australia.

lateral incisors accounting for over 80% of all dental injuries, so I’m certainly not the only numpty out there.

A couple of years too late I stumbled across a dental pros- thetist named John Halkitis on Burnie Street in Clovelly. Through his business, Rhino Mouthguards, John has been custom moulding mouthguards for both elite sports- men and amateur hacks like myself for over twenty years, ca- tering for a wide range of sports including hockey, boxing, martial arts, basketball, all football codes and even squash!

His clients include the NSW Waratahs, Eastern Suburbs Roost- ers, Wallaby Stephen Hoiles, Manly-Warringah five-eighth Ja-

constructs all Rhino Mouthguards himself. He also offers a mobile service so you can get him along to your training sessions to fit out your whole team at no extra cost. The importance of wearing a mouthguard to reduce the chance of sustaining a dental injury when playing sport should not be understated. While self- moulded ‘generic’ mouthguards are cheap and convenient they neither fit properly nor protect effectively. Rhino Mouthguards’ motto has always been to make a quality affordable mouthguard and they certainly live up to this claim. To book your appointment, call John at Rhino Mouthguards on 9664 9335 or drop in to 50 Burnie Street, Clovelly.
