The Crazy Kayakers - James Castrission and Justin Jones paddled a kayak from here to NZ - enough said! Cricket Hoo-Ha - Walk or be ridiculed. Let the cameras catch the liars and the crowds persecute them. Fans - The ones that blow air through your bedroom, not the ones that blow wind up celebrities’ bottoms. Valentines Day - Surely you don’t need a designated day to tell or show someone that you love them. Sir Ed - The great conqueror of Everest passed away last month but his memory will live on forever. Summer Traffic - If getting between the beaches isn’t torture enough, try finding a bloody park! John Kosmina - He’s turned Sydney FC from struggling cellar dwellers to potential minor premiers. Skin Cancer - The dark side of summer. Why does hav- ing fun in the sun have to come at such an expense? Night Swimming - More than just a good REM song, swimming after dark is the ultimate summer nightcap. Pterygiums - These growths on one’s eyes are the result of thinking that sunnies aren’t cool as a kid. Silly play. Clovelly Handball - Once the crowds have left, the Cloey concrete becomes the world’s best handball court.

Local Tradie

Local landscape gardener Greg James moved to Coogee eight years ago and has recently started his local Flower Power gardening franchise. His grandfather has lived in Coogee for as long as he can remember and even as a little kid he knew that the east was God’s country! “Who wouldn’t want to live here?! I definitely never take it for granted!” Greg shares his local favourites with The Beast...

FAVOURITE BEACH: Maroubra Beach definitely! My brother Andrew and I head down any chance we get. There’s nothing better than getting out the back and just chilling out, it’s good therapy! FAVOURITE EATERY: My house, my other half Jayne (so gorgeous!) is easily the best cook in Coogee. Anyone that’s ever been to ours for a BBQ would be nodding their head I’m sure! FAVOURITE WATERING HOLE: Coogee Bay Hotel in the sum- mer and the Beach Road at Bondi in the winter. And I go often, believe me! FAVOURITE SPORTING TEAM: The Sydney Swans, I live and die with every game! WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT GARDENING? There is no greater feeling than taking a back yard that nobody uses and turning it into the most popular room in their house. We’ve done Bali themes, traditional English themes, na- tive themes, whatever you like and every time we finish, we know we’ve been able to give the owner a place to escape from the hassle of city living. Plus I get to work in the Eastern Suburbs and who wouldn’t love that?!
