<< the company could make best use of it. Preparations for this included the need to ensure compatibility between the forklift’s power supply and the touchscreen’s power requirements, and installing a more powerful wireless network infrastructure to maintain continual connectivity at the extreme limits of the warehouse. Learning and using the system itself was much simpler, as Taylor recounts. “Even considering we had a number of employees that had very little computer experience, the easy, intuitive nature of the EFACS Touchscreen system meant that they found it very simple to use.”
Additional benefits
Gesipa has now been fully using the system for a number of months and observes that it has added to the benefits already enjoyed by the company. First and foremost, Gesipa now has real-time visibility over every
aspect of Inventory Control. There is also a significant reduction in the amount of paper and unnecessary admin generated by the company. And, as Taylor explains, “while it’s true we do have fewer operatives thanks to the efficiency savings, each of these is now directly involved with Inventory Control, which means we have expanded our skill base and this in turn helps the business run smoother.” With an estimated ROI in two and a quarter years, Lamb is understandably very pleased. “As with our original EFACS implementation, the Touchscreen system does exactly what we intended it to do because everyone concerned worked together as a team to make sure that it did.”
