Gymnasts Compete at Sectional Meet
submitted by Cathy Robertson-Souter It was a long ride and early in the morning, but the girls’ competitive team from Gym-Ken Gymnastics made the trip to compete in the second sectional meet of the winter season. With a number of first-place wins and most of the girls earning a spot at the state meet later in the month, the girls made sure it was well worth the trip!
In order to compete at this sectional meet, the girls needed to earn a 31.00 in their all-around score at a local qualifier. At the sectional meet, the gymnasts need to earn a total score of 33.00 in order to move on to the state Level meet.
A special congrats to the Level 4, age 9-11 group for their sweep of the top five places in their age group. Individual results for Level 4: 6-8 year-olds: Kiana Roy of Salem won seventh
on vault, ninth on floor, and 13th in the all- around. Hannah Monahan of Windham won second on bars, third on beam and floor, and fifth in the all-around. Mary Gallo of Salem took eighth on vault and bars, seventh on beam, and eighth in the all-around. Sydney Baldridge of Windham scored fourth on vault, fifth on floor, and 12th in the all-around. Caitlin McLaughlin of Salem won fourth on vault, ninth on bars, and 10th in the all-around. 9-11 year-olds: Delaney Cunningham of
Windham won second on vault, first on bars, third on beam and floor, and first in the all-around. Kylee Tommassi of Salem scored fifth on vault, third on bars, second on beam, sixth on floor, and third in the all-around. Chrissy DePamphilis of Windham won seventh on vault, fifth on bars and beam, second on floor, and fourth in the all- around. Taylor Maffeo of Windham won seventh on vault, fourth on bars, third on beam, eighth on
floor and fifth in the all-around. Mia Saucedo of Windham, at her first sectional meet, earned an 8.5 on vault and a 31.175 in the all-around. Individual results for Level 5: 9-10 year-olds: Paige Butler of Windham won third on vault and floor, seventh on bars, fifth on beam, and eighth in the all-around. 11 and up: Scarlett Souter of Windham was
awarded first place in all events (vault, bars, beam, and floor) and took home the first-place ribbon in the all-around. Individual results for Level 6: 9-10 year-olds: Alexandra Masone of Windham
won first place on vault, beam, and floor; second on bars, and took first place in the all-around. Samantha Jezak of Windham won third place on vault, first on bars and beam, third on floor, and took second place in the all-around. Victoria Sipes of Windham won fifth place on vault, second on bars, fourth on beam and floor, and fifth in the all-around. Gym-Ken Gymnastics’ competitive girls’ team is
coached by Head Coach Ruth Licata, and assistant coaches Jen Corsetto, Amberlynn Gifford, and Nate Hicks.

Voter’s Gymnasts Triumph at Sectionals
submitted by Debra Getty The competitive team from Voter’s Gymnastics in Salem competed at the second Sectionals meet held at Tri- Star Gymnastics in Dover on November 21. The girls had a wonderful meet, with all girls qualifying for the State meet held on December 5. The following are their scores: Level 4: Chrissy Milinazzo of Pelham – vault 8.95, bars 8.75, beam 8.475, floor 8.7, all-around score 34.875. Emily D’Arcy of Salem – vault 8.775, bars 8.75, beam 7.825, floor 8.675, all- around score 34.025. Paige Dame of Pelham – vault 8.55, bars 8.55, beam 8.75, floor 8.775, all-around score 34.625. Katy Nippert of Salem – vault 9.05, bars 8.9, beam 8.45, floor 9.125, all-around score 35.525. Sarah Caraccio of Salem – vault 8.5, bars 8.9, beam 8.8, floor 9.125, all- around score 35.325. Level 5: Gina DiZazzo of Salem – vault 8.175, bars 8.15, beam 8.225, floor 8.775, all-around score 33.325. Colts Head to NE Championship
