Cause of Fatal Pedestrian Accident under Police Investigation


submitted by Hudson Police Department On Saturday, December 4, at approximately 6:07 p.m., the Hudson Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of Route 111 near the intersection of Sullivan Road for a report of a vehicle/pedestrian accident. Upon arrival of emergency personnel, it was determined that a male had been struck by a vehicle that was traveling east on Route 111. The pedestrian was identified as Matthew Axelrod, 38, of Hudson. The driver of the vehicle was identified as George Bodenrader, 63, of Salem. Bodenrader was operating a 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The accident remains under investigation by the Hudson Police CRASH Unit. The Hudson Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Detective Sergeant Lucontoni at 886-6011.

Obituaries Elaine (Merrill) Holt


Elaine (Merrill) Holt, 92, of Georgetown, ME, and Hudson, passed peacefully in her sleep on December 2, 2010, at her home in Hudson. Elaine was born June 5, 1918, in Nashua, daughter of the late Karl and Josie (Jeannotte) Merrill. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1936 and earned her Registered Nurse diploma from Boston’s Deaconess Hospital in 1939. Elaine retired from Greenbriar in Nashua in 1984. Elaine and Charles W. Holt shared 54


happy years together before his passing in 1996. After raising their family in Hudson, Elaine and Charlie retired to their summer cottage in Georgetown. After many years volunteering with the Georgetown Working League, the town honored Elaine as Citizen of the Year in 1998. Elaine enjoyed reading, quilting and making hooked rugs, but her greatest joy was being ‘Oma’ to her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Elaine was pre-deceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Rosamond and Frank Nutting; infant brother, Everett Merrill; son, Thomas Holt; and son-in-law, Robert Dufault.


Elaine is survived by daughters Kathryn Daniell of Amesbury, MA and Susan Dufault of Hudson; granddaughters Christina Sweeney and husband Daniel of Hudson, and Karen Daniell of Stratham; grandsons Andrew Dufault and wife Laurie of Merrimack, and Eugene Daniell and wife Dianne of Richmond, RI; great-grandchildren Ryan, Robert and Marissa Sweeney of Hudson, Mitchell Daniell of Richmond, RI, and Nathan Dufault of Merrimack; and many other cherished family members and friends.

F. L. “Skip” Locke, 63, of Winder, GA, formally of Hudson, died November 12, 2010. Mr. Locke was the co-owner of United Supply in Nashua. Stinger Spike System Deployed in High Speed


Chase, Driver Charged submitted by Hudson Police Department On November 28 at approximately 1:17 a.m., Officer Scott Macdonald observed a vehicle operating erratically in the area of Webster Street. The vehicle, a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, began to rapidly accelerate in an apparent effort to elude the officer. The vehicle was traveling north on Webster Street when Officer Macdonald attempted to make the motor vehicle stop. The officer subsequently

attempted to apprehend the speeding vehicle. The Volkswagen Jetta passed another vehicle over the double solid yellow lines at excessive speeds. The Litchfield Police Department was notified as the pursuit was heading into their jurisdiction. Officer Anthony Brown and Officer Dennis Tessier deployed the Stinger Spike system, which successfully penetrated the tires of the suspect vehicle. The Volkswagen Jetta eventually came to a stop on Hillcrest Road near Charles Bancroft Highway. The driver was taken into custody on- scene without incident, and there were no injuries or collisions. The driver was identified as Daniel Pendleton, 22, of Hudson. Pendleton was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Class A Misdemeanor), Reckless Conduct (Class B Felony), and Disobeying a Police Officer (Class A Misdemeanor). The Litchfield Police Department is investigating this incident and it is unknown at this time if they will be pursuing any charges. Pendleton was released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Nashua District Court on December 16.


Fifth Arrest Made in Hudson Home Invasion


submitted by Hudson Police Department On Monday, December 6, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Hudson Police arrested Manuel Escamilla, 17, of Nashua, charging him with one count of Armed Robbery in accordance with New Hampshire RSA 636:1 and one count of Criminal Threatening in


accordance with New Hampshire RSA 631:4. Escamilla is the fifth individual charged in the Hudson home invasion, which occurred on November 16. The Criminal Investigation Division, which led the investigation, have arrested all five individuals involved and charged them for their involvement with the robbery
