MARATHON HOPEFUL

AUCTIONS SIGNED CRICKET MEMORABILIA

A

n Abbots Langley resident due to run the London Marathon next year is looking to raise funds for his cause by auctioning off a number of signed cricket items. Martin Hughes, of Tibbs

Hill Road, was featured in My Abbots News earlier this year after he completed his first London Marathon for the charity VICTA – Visually Impaired Children Taking Action. He is now hoping to run for

the same charity in the event on April 17 2011 and is looking to raise funds through selling the cricket memorabi l ia he has obtained. The Abbots resident, who

does casual work as a steward at Lords Cricket Ground, has managed to get his hands on three items that would make a great Christmas present for any cricket enthusiast, with all the money raised going towards his total for next year‟s marathon. First, Martin has a signed

print of Nasser Hussain scoring a memorable century in Kandy against Sri Lanka in 2001, with England going on to win by three wickets.

Bids are welcome for this signed print of Nasser Hussain scoring a century against Sri Lanka in 2001.

The item has been donated by the MCC direct and is an authentic item. The second item is one for any fan of either

England or Surrey CCC, with the county donating a signed Kevin Pietersen mini bat. The item has been signed by perhaps England‟s most gifted player and is sure to look good on someone‟s wall. The final item, and arguably the most

valuable, is a print donated by the England and Wales Cricket Board and is a signed image of England‟s 2009 One Day squad that competed against Australia in seven one day internationals. Martin is looking to raise as much money as

possible and is asking people to send him bids via email. Each item has a reserve price that Martin has set and if this is not met by the closing date the items will not be sold. To make a bid email Martin at

martinghughes@hotmail.com by noon on December 15. If you are successful with your bid, Martin will

contact you in plenty of time to get your item for Christmas.
