CHANGING FACES AND NEW CONTACTS AT MY LOCAL NEWS Kieran and Gemma are off to pastures new, while Jerry and Holly are your new editorial contacts.

I

t‟s all change at the My Local News office with „farewells‟ and „welcomes‟ filling the air. Editorial Assistant, Gemma Watson, and

Reporter, Kieran Theivam, are heading for pastures new and they‟re being replaced by Holly Noonan and Jerry Lyons. Over the four years that he‟s reported for My

Local News Kieran, from Watford, has become a familiar face and popular character throughout all the areas the magazines cover. He said: “I have had some great times here and seeing the business grow from two to seven magazines has been one of many highlights. Covering the General Election was really fascinating and interviewing some of the biggest names in politics was a real privilege. However, it is the everyday people in the areas we cover which

made the job so interesting. “On behalf of myself and Gemma I‟d like to

wish our former colleagues all the best. There is a great team working at My Local News and we will miss them. We‟d also like to thank those we have interviewed and worked with during our time here.” Gemma, from Abbots Langley, has been at My

Local News since September last year as an editorial assistant. As the resident Jack of all trades she‟s done a bit of everything, including interviewing Watford FC stars from the past, taking photos of the great and the good including children‟s favourite Peppa Pig and making sure the magazines are well laid out. She said: “I‟ve had a really good time working at My Local News and have met some fantastic people through the job. “I‟ve had some memorable moments including

interviewing former Watford FC players like Nigel Gibbs who shared some great stories. Getting to sample delicious cakes at John Lewis‟ department store was a pretty good gig to.” My Local News editor Nik Allen said:

“Gemma and Kieran have been instrumental in our expansion. I wish them well and I‟m sure they‟ll continue being successful. “I‟m very excited about the future. Jerry is a

very experienced journalist who has worked for a number of publications. Holly is extremely enthusiastic and originally joined us to get work experience, but during her time here she impressed us so much we‟ve given her a full-time position.” Gemma is off to work as a graphic designer for

a magazine publisher and Kieran will be exploring opportunities in PR and Communications.
