Fatima Enterprise Strategy Stage One Report – Context and Understanding

part of a culture shift in the public sector and as more services are contracted out, opportunities and willingness to engage with community enterprises may increase.

4.88 The area where we can add most value to this enterprise idea is therefore around looking at examples of similar successful projects elsewhere in order to assemble some case study examples and to produce an outline business plan to take the concept forward.

Summary

4.89 The potential enterprises to be developed in Fatima are all at different stages in their development. Some have had business plans produced and others are at the embryonic idea stage. Some are clear that they want to move down an enterprise route, others are still considering this as an option. A considerable amount of time and money has been invested in developing the proposals to this stage. The task now is to prioritise which ones offer the best potential and focus scarce resources on them in the future. This will be done in the Stage Two report.

4.90 At this juncture, a clear split is emerging between those projects that have the potential to develop along an enterprise route: the launderette; the café; and the neighbourhood management service; and, those projects which are more suited to continue as projects in the short term – the DCP and the Arts & Culture Strategy.
