The third generation of their family to work in the jewellery trade, Simon and his brother Richard founded W&W Private Jewellers in 2007 to provide a level of service they saw lacking in the industry. “Unlike stores, we keep very little stock, so we have no interest in pushing clients towards a particular direction,” explains Simon. “Our job is to fulfil a client’s wishes. £50 repair on an existing piece of jewellery as they are to design and create the dream £10,000 diamond engagement ring. “We would work to the same intensity for both,” says Simon. “For the bespoke work, clients might come in with pictures or plans of what they want, or with just an idea,” explains Simon. “Our job is to translate that idea into expert drawings and then into a stunning piece of jewellery. ‘Eat on the Street’ on Northcote Road
ocal resident & business owner Laura Amos of The Dessert Deli has recently flourished in her business, which produces luxury handmade desserts. The business recently featured in a national newspaper and won a ‘Producers Bursary Award’ at MasterChef Live 2010, after being judged by a panel of top food critics. After starting the business just over two years ago, today The Dessert Deli supplies Fortnum and Mason and Harvey Nichols and is soon to be representing the UK on The World Food Channel on Sky HD, launching in March. However Laura remains passionate about supplying local residents, no matter how small the order may be from her local kitchen or market stall on Northcote Road. “I started my business to make fine dining desserts affordable to enjoy in the comfort of the home,” says Laura. She has recently converted an old flower

barrow into a mini dessert kitchen so locals can enjoy her freshly baked products. She is keen to bring ‘Eat On The Street’ back to Northcote
Road. Says Laura: “There used to be a real joy and buzz of people eating food ‘to go’ on the street a few years ago and I would like to help bring this back by tempting customers with smells of freshly baked apple crumbles and the like.” Along with her delicious new Autumn/Winter/ Christmas Menu, Laura also offers mini dessert shots, fantastic for parties; hampers made to any budget; and cupcake/chocolate truffle cookery classes. She is particularly proud of her ‘Dessert Cups’ – desserts presented in plastic tea cups, in a box with a spoon: perfect for any occasion. Incredibly grateful for the support she has
