We finally had a chance to use our new digital camera on Friday and take some pictures of Royal Kapricia AF (Sha- gya Royal AF/Kadence DWB), aka "Grace". She had a bath & her mane pulled for the occasion with the help of a 4th year Cazenovia College Equine Studies major, Marisa Cic- carello. Marisa is renting an apartment from us and is very excited about helping me out with Grace. Anyway, Grace was a willing participant throughout all of our pampering and clicking.

The day was perfect for pictures but I think the sun was a little bright in her eyes since she has them closed in one photo. Oh well! Over the next few weeks we will be in- troducing the bit, surcingle & crouper and continue with her ground manners lessons. Marisa got her number right away, which is to say Grace wishes to lead you where she wants to go, but not in a vicious way! She continues to be a loveable girl! My husband thinks she would move in the house with us and be perfectly content.

One problem we are about to solve for her though is her continual tail rubbing. We finally came up with a solution to the problem - we're going to line the stall at tail height for 16" all the way around with a thin smooth plywood or the smooth wall material called "Marlite", which ever is more ideal. We have our fingers crossed this will work. Can't leave any feed buckets in her stall as she rubs them to smithereens and we can only put her water bucket in a corner. She does have a powerful rear end as you can see from the one photo! All in all I am thrilled with her tem- perament and her physique. In one picture you can see she has the makings of a very good piaffe.

Hope all is well with you and your equines! Thanks for the opportunity to share Grace's progress.
