Early Start Children’s Center Celebrates the Holidays

submitted by Early Start Children’s Center The children at Early Start Children’s Center celebrate the

holidays in many ways. The kindergarten class began the holiday season by performing a Thanksgiving presentation for families and friends. The children sang holiday songs, danced nimbly, and recited Thanksgiving poems. They also shared with their audience those people and “gifts” for which they gave their heartfelt thanks. The preschool classes have been organizing two food drives— one to benefit St. John’s Food Pantry and the other for the Judson Animal Control Shelter. Along with learning to care for others,

the children have been learning math by sorting and graphing the products donated by all the families in our school. The children will be able to deliver the donation in December and hear more about the families and animals in need from those who run these vital organizations.

The three-year-olds are busy rehearsing for their Christmas presentation, The Night before Christmas. Their families will be invited to attend the Monday before Christmas (December 20) to see the “reindeer” prance in with Santa. All the children, even the toddlers, are busy making presents for their parents, decorating gingerbread houses and Christmas trees, and writing letters to Santa. By the end of this busy month, they will all be ready to “settle down for a long winter’s nap”—along with their teachers, of course!
