When did you join the Clarins team? I was living in Italy with my family when I got a call from the Chairman, Christian Courtin-Clarins. Working for Clarins has always been my dream. I wanted to be part of its worldwide reputation for the quality of products, treatments and service. So I returned to France to take up the role of Spa Activities Director to develop the company’s spa portfolio around the world.

What’s unique about working for the company? Respect is something we talk about a lot at Clarins. For many years our company has been committed to an ethos of respect, which focuses on respect for mankind, the workforce, our customers and the world. You really feel this at work, and it’s rare. Many companies talk about it, but you don’t actually experience it as an employee. My father was in the beauty industry, and even back then I remember him telling me that Clarins’ reputation was impeccable. The respect Clarins has built over time is unique. In my opinion, the notion of respect is particularly essential in the world of spa and beauty.

Tell us more about Clarins spa services Our goal is to be the number one spa brand for the retail and hotel/day spa markets. True, we may

well be the number one beauty retail brand in France, the UK and Europe, but we’re also a truly treatment-based spa brand. Jacques Courtin-Clarins founded the company back in 1954, and because he was a chiropractor everything we do at Clarins comes back to the hands. Good hands dictate the quality of the treatment. When people ask me why Clarins would want to come into the spa market, I always reply that our spa journey began in 1954. We may even have been the first…

What can Clarins offer spas? We offer the most important thing of all: quality, quality, quality. We’ve developed a menu of over 60 spa treatments for face, body, pregnancy, men… as well as many specialist therapeutic treatments. The quality of our treatments and products is something we’re very passionate about. We’re not about being the most expensive spa brand, or the trendiest.

Tell us about your R&D We’re focused on quality, which is why our own laboratory develops all of our spa products. We have a dedicated team of 70 people developing and rigorously testing new formulas, all tested with the treatments until we’re happy that they’re perfect to launch to the spas. We never compromise
