UK: Over 300 delegates, including leading spa representatives from Champneys, Handpicked Hotels and Dove Spa, attended the fi rst UK Spa & Wellness Conference in November, partnered by European Spa magazine. Center Parcs Sherwood Forest hosted this new annual event, organised by Spa Life, a subsidiary of Topaz Consulting. T e conference debuted with a mix of presentations from top spa operators, marketing fi gureheads and operational experts. Highlights included talks from two keynote speakers: T omas Power, CEO of Ecademy and former apprentice to Sir Alan Sugar, who shared his thoughts on the future of social media in business; and Gordon Tinline, a Chartered Occupational
Psychologist who discussed the role spas can play in stress management. In between, delegates had the opportunity
to network while headline sponsors PAYOT and Lifetime, along with associate sponsors Alliance Leisure, BC Softwear, Jessica, MindBody Inc, Technogym, Peninsula, Topaz Consulting and European Spa magazine, provided demonstrations and samples of their products and services. Martin Dalby, CEO of Center Parcs who opened the
conference, commented, “As always, the networking was invaluable and our depth of spa knowledge was greatly expanded by the numerous speakers. It’s defi nitely a premier event in the spa calendar.”

Expansion for Imagine
UK: Ashdale Hotels has signed a partnership with Imagine Spa Management to add two spas to its portfolio. Hazlewood Castle Hotel, set in 77 acres of parkland near Leeds, has developed three treatment rooms in the original stable block for which Imagine has created the unique Imagine Spa brand. A more ambitious spa is being developed at
Hazlewood’s sister hotel, T e Dower House at Knaresborough, according to Imagine. A new spa including four treatment rooms, hammam, aromatherapy bath, thermal suite, relaxation room and spa dining area is being created while the existing health club is refurbished. “T is is our third spa project”, says Imagine
MD Dave Courteen. “We’re very confi dent that it will be equally as successful as the previous investments. Ashdale is a great client to work with and in both these spas we enjoy a profi t share relationship with them.”
