This £6.8m, state of the art facility has been initiated for the Gloucestershire ”gether NHS Foundation Trust by the Gloucester and Bristol based practice of architects, engineers and project managers, ASTAM, and it is already setting new standards for the inpatient care of older people.


Selfridges Architectural Piece


Renowned British department store, Selfridges has sculpted their much-anticipated shoe department into a work of art.

elfridges, has completed a major refurbishment of their flagship London


department store and Stage One were delighted to be involved, having been awarded the contract to produce a bespoke, sculptural product display piece entitled the Dragon’ for the women’s shoe department.


Designed by Jamie Fobert Architects, the Dragon is a complex, contemporary design, manufactured using fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials and completed with a vibrant matt green finish. Occupying a space of approximately 16 metres by four metres and up to 3.5 metres in height, the Dragon


comprises 12 different, interconnecting, faceted units. Accuracy throughout the complex construction process was of paramount importance in order to ensure that the edges of the faceted surface were precise, interfaces between units matched and the assembled structure would fit within the constrained space of the site.


JOINING FORCES Pringle Brandon and John Drew, a former Rafael Vinoly Director and Foster + Partners Partner, have announced the formation of a new architectural practice: Pringle Brandon Drew. Pringle Brandon Drew will offer base build architectural services and strategic advice, specialising in the commercial office sector. It will combine John Drew’s track record for delivering prestigious commercial, cultural and mixed-use developments with Pringle Brandon’s 20+years experience of working with developers and corporate occupiers to deliver award- winning workplace environments. Pringle Brandon Drew will be a sister company to the existing Pringle Brandon practice.


Morgan Carey Architects breathes life into historic Goods Shed!


Morgan Carey Architects, an award-winning practice based in Dorset, has rescued and restored an old railway Goods Shed after years of uncertainty for the building following a major fire in 2003. The Goods Shed, an 1847 Grade II Listed building situated adjacent to Wareham Railway Station, has been sympathetically restored using many of its original features. It is now a beautiful design studio, which the


team of 13 staff at Morgan Carey Architects moved in to in September. Director of Morgan Carey Architects, Mark Carey commented: “An existing client approached us with the idea to restore The Goods Shed, and develop a number of small dwellings in the same area. We pride ourselves on being able to design buildings that are appropriate to their surroundings, and this project illustrates this
