Self-cleaning renders E
xternal façades have to cope with the full force of the weather and climatic conditions, from
driving rain and high wind pressures to soiling through dirt and mould growth. The effectiveness of cladding products against the elements has always been of upmost importance to the client and building specifier. With these important issues in mind, PermaRock has introduced Nano-
Quartz technology, the latest innovation in clean façade renders, into their range of through-coloured renders. With the launch of these products PermaRock has pioneered the next
generation of ‘self-cleaning’ renders which offer superior levels of performance in terms of cleanliness and colour stability and provide unparalleled resistance to the elements. For the client and building owner these renders and coatings provide the added benefit of cost savings over the lifetime of the cladding system through reduced maintenance requirements in comparison to standard acrylic and silicone based renders. PermaRock Nano-Quartz renders build on the performance of
PermaRock’s ‘Clean Concept’ decorative finishes and are available for use with all of PermaRock’s external wall insulation and render systems providing a step change in the performance level of exterior renders and coatings. Nano-Quartz
technology renders and coatings are constructed from organically cross-linked nano-particles which form a compact, mineral-hard, three dimensional quartz- matrix structure which
protects against soiling and keeps façades cleaner for longer and the special silicone resin/binder combination also generates water repellent, highly water vapour permeable surfaces. These pioneering materials incorporate inorganic pigments, which also offer superior light and colour fastness and enable the use of dark colours on insulated (external wall insulation) backgrounds.
PermaRock Nano-Quartz Technology - Key Benefits: • Self-cleaning: the Nano-Quartz lattice surface gives excellent reduction to surface soiling (i.e. the adhesion of dirt particles, particulates and spores). Loosened dirt particles are removed naturally by wind and rain action • Increased resistance to mould & mildew: Nano-Quartz technology inhibits the growth of mould
• Highest colour brilliance and lasting colour retention: inorganic pigments and nano-technology offer class leading performance in relation to colour depth and longevity • Achieves Colour Fastness Code A1: the highest quality levels for binders (Class A) and pigments (Group 1) are achieved • Available in 500 colour shades: for use in conjunction with PermaRock’s A1 colour range • Highly water vapour permeable: allows the substrate to "breathe" • Low consumption: up to 20 per cent less material consumption on-site compared to conventional acrylic and silicone renders • Lower maintenance requirements: compared to standard acrylic and silicone based renders over the lifetime of a cladding system For further information telephone 01509 262924, email

investment down to demand for their unrivalled range of fire, accoustic and thermal doors. The increase in stock is a result of the greater demand for their Firesound doors, which are fire rated and feature excellent sound insulation. As an added boost, Latham’s Moralt Klima door-blanks are turning the heads of Architects involved in PassivHaus projects and are increasingly being used in the construction of highly insulated, self-heating houses. Engineered to meet stringent new building regulations, the Klima thermally insulating door blank has an unrivalled U-Value of 0.89. It is so well insulated that Architects believe it could be the answer to helping the ideal house retain more heat than it loses. For further information telephone 0116 527 3415, email
