Firm takes on additional staff BOTREA STAIRS - COMPETITION

LAUNCHED more than 25 years ago in West Cornwall, Botrea Stairs have established themselves as a leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke staircases using traditional skills combined with modern technology. The company continues to build on its reputation as a reliable supplier of handcrafted stairs for both domestic and commercial properties across the South West of England and beyond. In June this year, Derek Thomas took over the general management of the company. Derek comes with a background in the construction industry although his energies immediately before taking the post at Botrea Stairs were focused on the role of Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the West Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Constituency (St Ives). Derek has extended the workforce taking on a youngster with qualifications in Computer Aided Design and a further joiner. The business was started in premises near St Just in 1983. Originally working from farm buildings, the workforce soon outgrew the accommodation and in January 2007 moved into a purpose-built unit on its current site. Botrea Stairs has embraced the 21st Century using technology to assist the

craftsmen in making a high quality commodity.

Each stair is built specifically to meet the needs of the customer and projects can range from a single flight in a traditional Cornish cottage to multiple flights for large developments.

Recent projects have included the design of complex flights for a Crowne Plaza Hotel in central London; modern housing developments in Bodmin and St Austell; the conversion of a disused church to deluxe dwellings, featured on television; and a 3m spiral stair for a farmhouse on the Isle of Wight.

Botrea Stairs prides itself on the flexibility

of the workforce and their ability to come up with bespoke solutions to meet the expectations of customers. A lot of time is given to ensure that every customer is supplied with a quality staircase that fully meets their requirements and expectations. Botrea is committed to sustainable timber production. This means that all timber sourced by Botrea Stairs will come from well-managed forests. Furthermore the company has invested in machinery to produce various by-products including briquettes, an excellent carbon neutral fuel.

Makers of quality staircases since 1983

Botrea Stairs have been designing and manufacturing consistently high quality staircases, spiral staircases and contempory balustrade for the construction and DIY market for over 26 years. Think of your staircase as a piece of furniture but it is one that you cannot move or change (easily) so it’s crucial that you choose a company for experience and one you can trust. Often we can offer a design solution that may not be obvious but the options suggested may solve space, light or access issues.

We can build new staircases or restore existing ones. We supply staircases for private individuals, builders, architects and design agencies.

The cost can be surprisingly little, or as much as you want to spend. You may want to replace a straight short flight staircase, build a solid oak feature staircase or a combination of wood, glass and stainless steel

Botrea Stairs can deliver all of these and more!
