The state of the art Stenner multi-rip saw

DUCHY Timber products stand apart from the competition in their quality and integrity. The high quality products are locally produced by local people, supporting the local economy and ticking all the right environmental boxes. Duchy, with high quality machine lines, a sawmill and expert knowledge of timber and production, provides a broad range of products from fencing to gates, structural beams, landscaping material and cladding. We have recently invested £48,000 in expanding our featheredge production. Our state of the art Stenner multi-rip saw is now a six-bank machine - meaning we cut a blank into six pieces of featheredge at a time increasing production by 30 per cent.

Duchy Timber has its own sawmill.

The Stenner is a high- precision machine ensuring all of the timber cut is to exactly the same dimensions, giving a uniform finish and a far superior board to that of our competitors. Couple that with the new computerised upgrade to the treatment tank, and you have a fence that has a guaranteed lifetime unlike the cheap imported competition. Any installer or customer will be quick to see and realise the benefits of such quality and guarantee. We have recently supplied a

variety of bespoke timber fencing, from acoustic panels for roadside application, to heavy duty post and rail and some hit and miss in hardwood. For one project, we were

asked by Lion Gold Contracting to come up with a ‘fencing

solution’ for luxury apartments at Saunton Sands in North Devon. We provided durable and stylish knot-free hardwood fencing around the car park and bin store using Iroko machined in our workshop and fixed on site with marine grade stainless steel fixings. We also designed steps and a partition between the apartments on the ground floor that reflected the surrounding landscape and coast. We copied the style of the

groynes on the nearby beaches and used large treated Douglas fir posts with a groove down each side allowing us to slot in the partition made of nine by two Douglas fir.

The steps were enhanced, again with marine grade stainless wire and fittings, giving a nautical look. The stair treads and boardwalk was made of our own Douglas fir decking which we had impregnated with resin inserts to give a durable non-slip finish.

All of the timber was treated to British standard sector 4 which offered the contractor peace of mind that they had a finished product they can rely on that will look good and last for years to come. A finishing detail was the locally grown Duchy larch cladding to the underside of the balconies - beautiful grain and very durable.

So you can see we are very

versatile at Duchy Timber and our sister company Payne Timber and we will be very happy to help with any challenges and projects you may have. Give us a call and see what we can do for you.
