“Come and Join Us”
The Salvation Army in Tavistock meets for worship on Sunday evenings at 6pm in the United Reformed Church, Russell Street. Having to sell our own building some years ago because of dwindling numbers meant the need for relocation and we are so grateful to the URC for allowing us to hire their church.
Happily, our numbers are increasing and up to 45 people now attend regularly. Recently a musical festival was held featuring the band, singing group, timbrels and soloists. These groups, as well as the Tavistock Handbell Ringers, will be taking part in ‘Christmas Carols for the Community ‘ on 12th December in the Town Hall. This year we are delighted to give the collection to Children’s Hospice South West, the chosen charity of the Mayor of Tavistock.

In recent years money has been raised for the on-going work of The Salvation Army, including assistance given to families and individuals as well as the Christmas Day lunch, provided in association with the URC, for people who would otherwise be on their own. The Rev. Roger Cornish, Minister of the URC, has placed details of this event in the local press (see last month’s Diary for details) please fill in the form below if you would like to attend.
One of the phrases associated with The Salvation Army was ‘Come and join us’. Well, why don’t you? There will always be a welcome on a Sunday evening and we would love to see you at the Carol event too. God bless you
