Mark Beauchamp, European marketing manager for Citizen Systems Europe, reflects back over what the past year has meant for the industry and looks forward to what 2011 may bring.
D
espite all the ominous predictions, 2010 turned out to be a successful year for Citizen across Europe
and for our many VARs and resellers. Indeed, the manufacturing and technology industries have seen strong growth in recent months and some experts are going so far as to say that these sectors alone could help secure economic recovery in the UK following the global financial downturn. Accordingly, this renewed
confidence has given companies the assurance that it is safe to start reinvesting, with this being particularly evident in the UK, Germany and France. Naturally, however, businesses are still under considerable pressure to remain cautious, so this is a slow, rather than headlong, process but the signs are encouraging nonetheless.
Perhaps the key to the success of these sectors is the fact that they are increasingly developing new technologies that meet the ever changing demands of companies throughout industry as they battle to improve business performance in this period of post recession recovery. In particular, there is a strong need for solutions that enable businesses to boost productivity and realise a quick return on investment, while also reducing the time and costs needed for maintenance.
Growth
At Citizen, for example, the intro - duction of a number of technologies that meet these demands has seen the company enjoy notable growth over the past year.
