The 10th Street Center is offering a FREE drop-in


recreation program for 7 - 12 year olds. The center offers a variety of activities and is supervised by


trained recreation leaders. Enjoy sports, arts-n- crafts, games, special events, homework help or just a fun safe place for your kids to hang out. Site is


supervised during program hours only, Monday through Thursday, 4 pm – 6 pm. This is a drop-in program and children may choose to arrive and leave at any time. Field trips and certain special events may require an additional fee. For more information, call 675-5600. All participants must have a signed Emergency


Information Card at their site to participate in the program. Emergency cards are available on-site and at the Holly or Kennedy Community Center.


Drama for beginners • ages 6-12 This drama class will provide the basics of acting for the young star in training. In this class you will learn acting techniques to improve self- expression and observation skills, including improvisation and staged readings. This class is designed for all young actors of varying skills and abilities. Friends and family are also invited on the last day of class for a special performance where our young actors will showcase all that they have learned. Cooking 101 • ages 6-10 Bring your children to cook up some fun with Chef Natalie’s Cook- ing 101. Children will be encouraged to create and eat nutritious food as they develop their creativity. This class will offer an emphasis on kitchen safety and they will become more knowledgeable of cook- ing ingredients and tools. Learn about painting with watercolors in a safe and fun environ- ment. In this class the instructor will cover the basic supplies and techniques that are used in watercolor painting. Drawing lessons will also be included in some of the projects. Each student will take home a folder on the last day of class. This is a great introductory painting class for kids who are interested in art!

Chess Instruction by U.s. Chess Mates • ages 5-13 Chess teaches critical and abstract thinking, planning, logic and pa- tience. U.S. Chess Mates makes chess instruction very easy. This class is suited for all levels, from beginner to the most advanced. Each class will include 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of tourna- ment games. back to basics Phonics- Tot ages 4-5 Research has shown that children who are exposed to challenging subjects such as reading in their formative years, enter kindergarten performing at or above grade level. This class will focus on phonics and reading readiness. Students should have a working knowledge of the alphabet names and the sounds for each letter.
