Amiee’s Drive for Life Registers 288 New Bone Marrow Donors

Christmas is Coming!

Truckloads of freshly cut Chritsmas trees arrive at Countrybrook Farms in Hudson this week; a sure sign that the Holiday Season has begun! Owner Jay Shattuck and crew unload the trees in preparation for the selling season

In addition, Dan and Joanne Weldon and Molly donated pony rides!

And a special thank-you goes to Bryan Lane, principal of Alvirne High School. Jessie Flahive commented, “He truly treats his students as part of his family—even long after they have left the school. Without his support and dedication, this event never would have taken off. He took the time to e-mail all of the parents, made sure the faculty knew, posted the sign outside, and was there to make sure we didn’t need anything further. From the bottoms of our hearts, Nashua Chiro, Amiee, and I thank him.”

Last Saturday, November 20, friends and family held a Bone

Marrow Drive at Alvirne High School to assist Amiee, a 1999 AHS graduate, in her fight against acute myelogenous leukemia (AML). Amiee, first diagnosed with this disease in May 2009, was able to achieve remission in January 2010. However, a few weeks ago, it was discovered that the AML had returned. Members of the National Bone Marrow program (www.marrow.org/indes.html) registered 288 new donors. Local businesses and community members donated items for raffles, and a bake sale was also held. The $1,600 raised will go towards Amiee and her son, Ayden. Amiee and her team were extremely grateful to the following sponsors and their donations: Ray’s Repair of Hudson, one free oil change; Philo Chiropractic Center, half-hour massage; Candles by Trudi, Floral candle stand and candle piece; Matt Ramsey, Original Portrait; Suzie’s Diner, $25 gift card; Kim Frenette, Whispering Brook Farm, $200 gift card basket; Lynne Schulte, hand-painted gift cards; David Magdalenski, painting; Lauren Noyes, Matted prints; Shirley Kilgour, hand-knitted blanket; Lauri Ripaldi, Floral Keepsakes, floral music box; Kenya Green, Keen Shoes; Shannon Moberg, Scentsy Gift Basket; Heetsz & Mahtini, handmade journal and flower pen; Laurie Corbet, Welcome Baby basket; Stacie Labore, kids’ craft basket; Maggie, $50 Athena gift certificate; Sue Basner-Capman, $40 Paul Mitchell hair products; Karen, $75 hair product basket; Peacock Players, four tickets for Mainstage; Tim from Buckley’s, two $25 gift certificates to Buckley’s/Surf/Michael Timothy’s; and Melissa, Muscular Rehabilitation, free one-hour massage.
