mother-daughter bond Mothers’ and daughters’ questions will be answered by representatives from National Charity League’s San Tan, Ahwatukee and East Valley chapters during an informational meeting at 2 p.m. Sun., Nov. 21 at St. John Bosco Catholic School, 16035 S. 48th St. in Phoenix.

Komen Foundation 3-Day made their way through downtown Chandler last weekend, top, as part of the annual fundraising effort for breast cancer research. SanTan Sun News account executive Jane Meyer and her team, Bust Buddies, were part of the event, bottom, and the group raised $30,000.

NCL is a nonprofi t national organization of mothers and daughters who join together in community involvement within local chapters throughout the United States. The mission of the league is to “foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.” “NCL gives mothers and daughters unique opportunities to strengthen their bond while growing together, sharing of themselves and improving their communities, says the event’s spokesperson Gwen Rusk. “Some of the philanthropic opportunities of the San Tan Chapter include our designated organizations with whom our mothers and daughters serve, including ICAN, United Food Bank, Special Olympics, American Cancer Society Relay For Life, Arizona Museum for Youth, Friends of the Chandler Public Library, My Sister’s Place, Foundation for the Blind, Power Paws, A Cinderella Affair, Chandler Historical Society and Goodwill.”


To be eligible for NCL membership, daughters must currently be in sixth through ninth grade. To RSVP for the meeting email your name and daughter’s grade level to Rusk at gwenkcr@q.com.
