[Luca Sbisa] was huge. He and I basically did everything together before he got sent down. I was glad he took me under his wing and helped me out. The guys have been great. They give me a hard time about being young, but that’s about it.


How did you get involved in the game growing up?


My dad was born in Newfoundland and has been a huge hockey fan his whole life. He and I always watched hockey together. There are pictures of me at 2 or 3 years old, whacking a ball around, and I started out as a 4- or 5-year-old in hockey clinics and just built myself up from there. I didn’t get the hang of it right away, but I got better and came to a point where I realized I might be able to make a career out of this thing.


You seem to be very close with your family.


I can’t thank my parents enough for everything they’ve done. They’ve sac- rificed so much to take me to practices and tournaments. My sisters practically lived at the rink for awhile. There were late school
